چکیده

The self-assembly of macromolecular brushes of varying amphiphilic character from homogeneous solution under rapid assembly conditions results in unique morphologies, distinct from equilibrium structures. Kinetic features of the assembly process enabled the formation of toroid structures, the sizes of which were readily tuned according to solvent quality.

Cationic cyclocholamides; toroidal facial amphiphiles with potential for anion transport.

Cholic acid has been transformed into cyclotrimeric and cyclotetrameric toroidal amphiphiles with inward-directed ammonium substituents; the cyclotrimer effects the transport of chloride anions across vesicle bilayer membranes.

Comparison of the Eccentricity Faults Effects on the Performance of several Toroidal Wounded Axial Flux Permanent Magnet Motors

Eccentricity fault is one the most common fault types of disk-type permanent magnet machines, which could lead to devastating effects. Unfortunately, most of the previous works have studied this fault and its detection techniques for slotted structure with common winding. Therefore, in this paper, the effects of eccentricity faults on the performance of single-sided slotted, single-sided slotle...

Modeling the anisotropic self-assembly of spherical polymer-grafted nanoparticles.

Recent experimental results demonstrated that polymer grafted nanoparticles in solvents display self-assembly behavior similar to the microphase separation of block copolymers and other amphiphiles. We present a mean-field theory and complementary computer simulations to shed light on the parametric underpinnings of the experimental observations. Our theory suggests that such self-assembled str...

Self-assembly and applications of biomimetic and bioactive peptide- amphiphiles

Peptide-amphiphiles are amphiphilic structures with a hydrophilic peptide headgroup that incorporates a bioactive sequence and has the potential to form distinct structures, and a hydrophobic tail that serves to align the headgroup, drive self-assembly, and induce secondary and tertiary conformations. In this paper we review the different self-assembled structures of peptide-amphiphiles that ra...

The role of spacers on the self-assembly of DNA aptamer-amphiphiles into micelles and nanotapes.

The self-assembly of single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) aptamer-amphiphiles was influenced by the choice of spacer used to link the hydrophobic tail and aptamer headgroup. Aptamer-amphiphiles without spacers or with hydrophilic spacers formed globular micelles while amphiphiles with hydrophobic spacers formed bilayer nanotapes, which are the first such structures formed by DNA-amphiphiles.
